Working with the Surrey Schools breakfast program, Team Milau visited a local surrey elementary school and served kids a simple but healthy breakfast. Over two days, we served approximately 110 breakfast meals. It was rewarding to see happy kids heading to their classrooms with full bellies.

Walk & Roll for Harmony 2025

Walk & Roll for Harmony - Collage.jpg

On September 27th, my son Noah and I joined hundreds of people in participating in the walk at the South Surrey Athletic Park. Together, Team Milau helped raise $28,857 for Walk & Roll for Harmony; the event, as a whole, raised approximately $118,000, surpassing their $100K fundraising goal. We can’t thank you enough for the outpouring of support from all of you. The sense of community was truly inspiring!

2025 Champion of the Crescent

We hit the water for a cause that matters! On Friday, July 18th, Team RBC was proud to be paddling in Champion of the Crescent 2025, hosted by the Surrey Hospitals Foundation, in support of youth mental health programs at Surrey Memorial Hospital. The event raised over $225K, which will directly support youth through programs like art therapy, therapeutic writing, and sensory interventions, helping them navigate some of life’s toughest moments with the care they need.

How we give back to the community

We believe in supporting organizations that make a real difference in the lives of people in our community. The causes we champion matter deeply to Nick and his family, informing not just where we give, but why we give.

Surrey Hospitals Foundation
Health care services in Surrey are primarily financed by government and through funds raised by Surrey Hospitals Foundation. The Foundation helps fund Surrey’s major health facilities, including Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. The Foundation also supports and funds Czorny Alzheimer Centre, along with many specialized community programs for newborns, children, adults and seniors. As one of Canada’s fastest growing communities, Surrey’s need for quality care continues to grow. Both of Nick’s children were born at Surrey Memorial Hospital so he can attest to the quality of care which he supports for future generations.

Arthritis Research Canada
Arthritis Research Canada (ARC) is the largest clinical arthritis research centre in North America. With centres in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, and Nova Scotia, ARC is leading research aimed at preventing arthritis, facilitating early diagnosis, finding new and better treatments, and improving quality of life for people living with arthritis. More than six million Canadians of all ages are battling this life-altering disease, including Nick himself (after years of rugby!)

Langley School District Foundation
The Langley School District Foundation was established in 2001 with a goal to supplement publicly funded education to ensure Langley students achieve success. They host events such as the Mane Event, which raises funds for their autism assessment initiative and many other student mental wellness programs. As Nick’s son Noah was born with autism, this event is deeply meaningful to Nick and his family.

Easter Seals
Easter Seals BC/Yukon, a service of the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services to children and adults with disabilities that help build their self-esteem, self-confidence and sense of independence. With Nick having a child on the autism spectrum, he knows firsthand the importance of managing the delicate balance of providing support, while also encouraging independence for persons with disabilities (PWD). Easter Seals has been a tremendous advocate for PWD’s in BC for over 75 years.

UNITI – Semiahmoo House Society – Harmony
UNITI provides quality services to people with developmental disabilities and their families in Surrey and neighboring communities. Harmony, one of the UNITI’s programs, provides affordable and inclusive housing that reflects the diversity of the Surrey community. Harmony provides rental homes—on average 30% below the current cost of rent—for essential workers, seniors, families, people with disabilities, students, and others who are priced out of South Surrey. Nick’s son, Noah, has benefitted greatly from UNITI’s social programs, vocational placement programs and, as he enters adulthood, he hopes to also benefit from their community living programs.

100 Guys That Care – South Surrey
This organization is a gifting circle of 100 local businesspeople who make regular donations to various members of the community in need, including single-parent families, local high school graduates in need of scholarships, and more. Nick has been a contributing member of this group since it’s inception in Surrey which has provided $40,000 to $50,000 to needy families, young adults entering post-secondary life as well as other worthy causes.
