Once in a Blue Moon® charity event: Helping raise over $2.5 million for children in need
Led by Rhonda Hymers, whose unwavering commitment to the well-being of children and youth remains a constant inspiration for our team, the Once in a Blue Moon® charity event gathered together over 340 philanthropists for an evening filled with laughter, love, and a shared vision to support the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) of Kelowna. We are extremely proud that the event raised over $2.5 million in support of the centre’s work in delivering life-changing services to vulnerable children and youth impacted by abuse and neglect.
Rhonda Hymers: Proud recipient of the 2023 RBC Global Citizen Award
In recognition of her leadership, commitment, and tireless efforts to ensure food security for children, support families in crisis, and establish innovative volunteer programs during the pandemic – amongst countless other charitable endeavours – Rhonda was awarded the 2023 RBC Global Citizen Award. This coveted award recognizes outstanding employees who excel in their roles, demonstrate RBC’s values, and show remarkable dedication to community service.
The Bridge Youth & Family Services: A holiday tradition of giving back
The holiday season is a time when we embrace giving back to the community that has enriched our lives. To that end, we take immense pride in purchasing, wrapping, and personally delivering gifts to The Bridge Youth & Family Services, a vital charity in our community. For some of the young people who stay at the Recovery House, it may be the only gift they receive during the holiday season, so it means a lot to our team to be able to provide support (and something to cuddle).
Kelowna General Hospital Foundation: Volunteering at the Perking Lot
The KGH Foundation holds a very special place in our team’s hearts, as the incredible work they do to raise funds pays dividends for those in need. Since 2020, the RBC Dominion Securities Perking Lot volunteer crew, initiated by the Hymers Private Wealth team, has amassed over 950 volunteer hours and looks forward to contributing many more. If you happen to be visiting Kelowna General Hospital on Friday mornings between 7am and 11:30am, we invite you to stop by and say hello!
The Dreamer Express: A new magical holiday tradition
In 2025, Hymers Private Wealth proudly supported the Parade with a Purpose, which raised over $170,000 for Kelowna General Hospital Foundation’s youth mental health programs. Discover how that support led to The Dreamer Express—B.C.’s first fully electric, zero-emission outdoor passenger train experience—and created a new Kelowna holiday tradition.

Okanagan for Wishes celebration: Helping raise $250,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada
As one of the lead organizers for Tom and Debra Mauro’s Okanagan for Wishes celebration hosted at their home on July 22, 2025, Rhonda Hymers drew on her commitment to supporting causes dedicated to children and youth. Since 2024, Rhonda has worked alongside Philanthropists, Tom and Debra Mauro and a dedicated youth committee, to raise $250,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada, marking the largest single-year fundraiser in the history of the B.C. and Yukon Chapter. This achievement will help grant 25 wishes for children with critical illnesses, more than doubling the original goal. As a result of their collective efforts, Peyton, a young Kelowna child, was surprised with a significant contribution toward her dream trip to Florida theme parks.
