The Seyers Group of RBC Dominion Securities

"How will you replace your current income in retirement?"™

Jim and Ellen Seyers
Not Your Typical Practice
The families who found The Seyers Group never looked back. Here's why:

Most people know what they've saved. Few know if it's enough to live on.

At The Seyers Group, we have had the pleasure of helping clients grow their net worth and income during their working years, and throughout retirement, since 1988.

If you find yourself overwhelmed with where to begin, and what the best investment process is, we would love the opportunity to provide a solution for you.

Built From the Ground Up

The Seyers Group was built on a belief that even the most successful people need a real plan for their money, and that the right advisor makes all the difference. It took shape during Jim's years as a cabinetmaker in his 20s, where he first noticed the gap between what people earned and what they understood about it.

It deepened through annual family road trips to Omaha, where Ellen saw Warren Buffett speak, and where an interest first took root that she'd come back to years later. What they built together from those two starting points has never changed: quality dividend-paying companies, fixed income, and a commitment to helping families understand exactly what their money is doing for them.

Decades later, and that is still The Seyers Group.

How will you replace your income in retirement?

Let’s answer that question, together.

The Faces You 'll Come to Know

This is a practice built on relationships, and relationships start with knowing who you're talking to.

Great Portfolios Start With Great Values

The Seyers Group was built on a standard that doesn't shift with the market: honesty, care, and a genuine commitment to the people behind every portfolio.

That means showing up for people the way a trusted family member would, taking the time to make sure every client truly understands what they own, why they own it, and that they never feel lost or left behind.

That same commitment runs directly into how they invest — full transparency, individual holdings, nothing hidden — because the values that guide a relationship have to be visible in the portfolio too. Nearly four decades in, that has never changed. It never will.

Designed Around Your Income

Behind every portfolio is a process, one designed not around market trends or product shelves, but around the income that lets clients live exactly the life they planned for.

What we build

Every Seyers Group portfolio is built from individually selected, dividendpaying companies, businesses with the financial strength and track record to reward shareholders consistently, through every kind of market.

These are companies clients recognize, making products and services they use every day. Alongside those equities, fixed income such as GICs provides a stable, predictable foundation. No mutual funds. No ETFs. No pooled products of any kind — because every holding should have a name, a reason, and a number you can point to.

Why dividends

Dividends are not a bonus; they are the point. A company that pays a consistent and growing dividend is a company with real earnings, strong cash flow, and a commitment to its shareholders. That income lands in the portfolio like clockwork, grows over time as companies raise their payouts, and provides a natural cushion when markets get difficult.

It is also tax-efficient. Canadian dividend income qualifies for the dividend tax credit, making it one of the most effective forms of income a portfolio can generate.

How we stay accountable

The Seyers Group keeps the portfolio deliberately focused because knowing a few businesses deeply beats spreading thin across many.

The same clarity carries into reporting: every quarter, clients receive a custom portfolio summary report built around one question: is your portfolio generating the income you need? It puts income front and centre, while transparently showing each client's rate of return and exactly how the portfolio is growing. The Seyers Group designed it themselves, focusing entirely on the client's income and goals, providing a clear, honest picture of where they stand.
